Arno Kamaz to release Like Minimal EP
ARTIST: Arno Kamaz
TITLE: Like Minimal
LABEL: Dialtone
RELEASE DATE: August 30th, 2010
DESCRIPTION
Beach, House, and Bikinis is what summer is all about. So to keep things warm we are very pleased to share with you this new release. Newcomer Arno Kamaz (Dialtone, FRA) gets remixed by five great artists. First we bring you one of our personal favorite and Kung Fu Dub label’s boss, Jeff Bennett. He delivers a classy piece of tech-infused house with it’s personal deep trademark that shows why his music has been in the crate of every big name. Next is Match Hoffman, the man behind Aspekt imprint. A great piece of electronic music that stimulates your mind and body. Derek Marin (Thoughtless, DE) shows us how minimal music is not always boring if you know how to edit the repetitive sounds wisely and make them hypnotic. Analog Effekt (Kina, RU) gives us a more technoish track perfect for those main sets and groovy nights with lots of people going wild. And last but no least is Psykoloco(Dialtone, FRA) with a deep, emotional remix perfect for those beach parties and sunset sets. ENJOY!

A whole pile of new promos……
From time to time I’ll get releases that are simply a dump of music. They aren’t enough to each warrant their own blogs, yet they are good enough not to go unmentioned. So, what I’m going to do is start throwing up one single post with all of these small releases included in it. So, here ya go… Great new stuff. Go grab it now. Also, while I’m on a little rant here. If you come across an artist that you’re stoked about, please go check out Beatport or DJ Download or whatever digital music outlet you prefer and see if they have any tunes out that you may actually buy. See, the point of the labels releasing the free promos is to entice you to go an actually hand over a few green backs for other tracks. If you don’t support the artists by purchasing some of their work, there’s no reason for the labels to continue pushing out promo material an sites like this loose all their resources and end up drying up and going away. So, please support!
Promo Dump!

The Magic Hour LP by Dubstep Duo Blackheart
ARTIST: Blackheart
TITLE: The Magic Hour LP
LABEL: MalLabel Music
California is becoming the hub for an emerging mutant strain of dubstep that combines glitch, old school coastal rave breaks, and outdoor sound system culture. Think Burning Man meets Road Warrior and you’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the engine that drives veteran MalLabel recording artists Blackheart. Hailing from San Francisco, this pair of ne’er-do-wells certainly brings the hammer down with tough beats on this seven track mini LP, teaming up with some of the US dubstep scene’s biggest talents Bukkha, Ceeker, and Rastatronics to indulge in a festival of paint peeling bass lines and coarse synth melodies. But Blackheart also has the skills to make it funky, laying down hard core hyphy beats that pay close attention to the ghettotech pioneers from Detroit and the new school cats from Baltimore. But what makes these guys so amazing is their synth work – this album is comprised entirely of melodies sculpted out of pure techno influences – from old R&S to new Perlon; Blackheart hasn’t forgotten that dubstep is still music for dancing. “Creature Funk” opens the album with raunchy, chuggy, driving stepper while “Dialers,” “Madhouse,” and “Kik Mah Boots” provide the straight-forward, driving anthems.

Bitter Sweet @ Discovery Nightclub 7-17-10
Well, something quite special happened in Little Rock on July 17th, 2010. Local legends DJ Chaos and Big Brown came together after almost a decade to entertain the crowd at Arkansas’s longest running nightclub Discovery. Discovery is a venue that has been opened continually, while being owned by the same man (Norman Jones) for over 30 years. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s (during the height of the rave movement), there were a handful of DJ’s who had residencies at Discovery who changed the way people in and around Arkansas viewed and listened to dance music. Last weekend was a tribute to them and everything that they have had a hand in developing, literally paving the way for DJ’s like myself to have the opportunity to entertain the patrons of not only Discovery, but several other clubs in Little Rock. To this day, these guys continue to influence younger talent. The following mixes are from the live recording taken throughout the entire night at Discovery. The first will be Bobby Kuta (another staple in the Little Rock dance music scene). Bobby opened the night and played an hour and a half set. I’ve still got some post-production to do on the remaining audio and I refuse to release it until it sounds as good in your car as it did at the club. So over the next few days I’ll be posting the remaining balance of the night’s audio. Please share all of this with everyone you know. Burn stacks of cds and give them to strangers. The sounds you’re about to hear are the sounds that use to fill the hall of industry years ago.
It was impossible for this to happen, but it did. I’m never one to say never, but, it’s highly unlikly that it will happen again. So grab this audio while it’s available. If you’d like copies of the 320kbps mp3’s just contact me through the contact form and I’ll link you over to them.
For now, here’s the first installment:
